2. I discovered Leela Hazzah, founder of the Lion Guardians.

Leela is a lion conservation biologist who has turned to social science to protect carnivores in Kenya – read more about it here 

“I know we’re making a difference, when I first moved here, I never heard lions roaring. But now I hear lions roaring all the time.” ~ Leela Hazzah.

P.s. Leela’s work has also inspired ethical and vegan shoe brand Nicora Shoes to design and name a ballet flat after her – shop the Leela shoe here!

3. I discovered this a little while ago, but I started reading about it again today.

Following a 17% rise in the population in the decade leading up to 2014, the panda has moved from the ‘endangered’ list to ‘vulnerable’. “The recovery of the panda shows that when science, political will and engagement of local communities come together, we can save wildlife and also improve biodiversity.” Marco Lambertini, WWF Director General.
